Truth or Dare
'Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.'
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.'
- Robert Frost
They say the world will end in 2012, with tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes, an explosion of colour on a now concrete palate. But I know better. The world won't end with movement and noise. The world will end with walls. With people icing themselves into a hole, brick and mortar piled on on top of the other like deafening memories till all we remember is how to forget. Forever love and emotion laced lungs buried under weed soaked veins while we breathe in and out to lyrics to teach no lessons. We've seen too much hurt, too much loss, claims a generation that has witnessed no Great War, no Great Depression. We feel too deeply, they plead and Wikihow doesn't teach us how to feel sad. So instead, touch screens form the surface of their soul and they tweet at reflections, a semblance of their conjured up suffering. And with every new friend accepted on Facebook, the wall widens. Everyone's inside now, they say earnestly, why get out?
And as the world watches over the walls, she weeps.
